was Fukuyama actually right?
you VILL eat ze bugs and you VILL watch ze government officials and billionaires rape children and get away with it

you may have heard about the work of Francis Fukuyama - "The End of History and The Last Man" - which was heavily criticized for being too biased and labeled as neoliberal propaganda. well, both accusations stand firm, yet it doesn't refute the right of this work to be somewhat true.

for those unenlightened - this book basically claims that humanity's progress as civilization has halted at the current stage(late 80s - early 90s, the time when the book was written and released) and everything will just stagnate in it's present form, with no major historic events or capital changes happening. and if you look at it from the imaginary perspective of a person who lived back in those times, it would become apparent that it's hard to disagree with such claims. US and coalition forces had just blazed through Iraq within 100 hours, crushing the most powerful military force in the region that took more than a decade to build. the Soviet Union had collapsed, leaving millions scarred and starved, marking the victory of capitalism and market economy over communism and planned production. Western Europe had gone on a unification spree, hastily enlisting new members into the economic and military alliances. it seemed like the final enemies had been slain and nothing is in the way of american domination, with the west triumphing as the apex of civilization. nothing had seem to be able to change that, and...

still doesn't. despite the turmoil of the last 25 years, the post-Cold war establishment is yet to lighten it's grip on the world. everyone still uses the post-WW2 monetary system, effectively making the US government the ultimate accountant, as well as the debt collector. most of the economies of the developing countries have most of their exports directed to the west, some were lucky enough to receive the industrialization boost from the aforementioned in 90s-00s, from all the factories being moved abroad for cheaper labor and lower standards overall. many local conflicts had sprawled around the globe, from post-Soviet countries to Latin America - yet none were significant enough to even get full attention of the western armed forces(though intelligence agencies certainly took an interest). even today, in the big 2026, people care more about what happens in the US than in their own countries. all that's being broadcasted through news outlets is an american scramble of higher-ups drama and neoluddite fearmongering - be it epstein files or how a guy got shot by the ICE.

and don't get me wrong - it's awful that said things happen and perpetrators must be held accountable in the court of law... but none of this actually changes the big scheme of things. crimes like this will continue until the thugs in uniforms get a carte blanche on oppression, and your jail sentence is only limited by how rich you are. not to say this was never the case before, though - the catholic church sold indulgence(absolute sin forgiveness(what?)) back in the medieval times, along with organizing crusades against the middle east for racketeering under the guise of faith and belief(those mercs were paid VERY handsomely). so, just like back in the times of the holy roman empire, old rich fucks still drive the boat.

is there anything you can do about it? well, not really, i think. unless you can simultaneously disable hundreds, even thousands of people pulling the strings all around the world and replace the power vacuum - you are better off just taking it up the ass, sorry.

Karl Marx(yeah that guy) said something about "initial capital gain" in his works, stating that when an extreme minority of people gets the majority of resources on the planet, no conventional methods of bringing change to the status quo can succeed. that aligns pretty well with what Fukuyama said and the facts that we have at hands - extreme minority is doing what they please, with massive fines being the cost of doing business, while the rest of us get to enjoy witnessing their crimes and getting away with it, like mocking us in our helplessness.

this abysmal dogshit will continue, since the end of history had come, cementing the status quo as a baseline for human society.
